Summer Week 7

Longships Class have had such a busy week. Not only have some children been out for swimming, our Year 5 pupils have been out to The Roseland Academy for a taster day which they have been very enthusiastic about.
This week in English, we began writing a story based on Honey I Shrunk the Kids. There has been a focus on using the possessive apostrophe, using description and inverted commas to show speech and dialogue. I have been so impressed with the vocabulary the children have included in their writing and have put some amazing examples of this on our class board in the corridor.
The children have shown fantastic perseverance in their Maths this week, during our focus on fractions and decimals. Although at times it has been pretty tricky, the children have enjoyed challenging themselves, trying their hardest to move up to the next level in their learning.
We have come to the end of electricity as our Science focus. The pupils have worked hard to set up and test simple circuits. After focusing on conductors and insulators last week, we looked different styles of switches and demonstrated how they are used to complete a circuit effectively.
