Summer Term Week 5

Wow! What a week we have had!
Porthpean Camping
Photos will be posted on the school website.
Day 1: Archery and Climbing Wall
All of the children got the chance to learn how to fire a bow and arrow safely, aiming at a target. We had a competition to see who reached the closest to the target. Pupils were also able to try out problem solving skills and team work in order to find the best route up the climbing wall.
Day 2: Beach Day
There was a range of activities to choose from, including stand up paddle boarding, kayaking, cannoning and coast steering, all done in such beautiful weather. I was very impressed with the children's resilience, 'have a go' attitude and such polite manners during the day.
Day 3: High Ropes
Although the scariest of all activities, it was enjoyed by everyone. After trying out the zip line, pupils got to challenge themselves on the Leap of Faith activity. Jacob's Ladder showed off some amazing team skills, as children worked hard to get to the top and ring the bell. The final activity included the wobbly bridge, balance ropes and climbing posts. The pupils showed great bravery and trust on the High Ropes. The staff were very complimentary about the children due to their enthusiasm and focus during the day.
Surf Day
Some of the class had a great day surfing at Fistral Beach on Thursday with instructors from Global Boarders Surf School. After learning the basic skills of surfing, such as getting on the board and where to hold it, the children were able to try out their skills in the waves. Well done everyone, you were all fantastic.
