Grampound Road Village CE School

Summer Term Week 3

It has been a very busy week in Longships. The children have planned, drafted, edited and rewritten their letter to Michael Gove regarding environmental issues that they are passionate about. There has been a lot of focus on conjunctions and rhetorical questions, to ensure the letters are formal and persuade the reader to understand everyone's opinion. There has been some exciting writing and I will be putting more excellent examples on our WOW wall in class. The best letter will be displayed on our corridor 'Work of the Week!' wall.

In Maths, we have been doing lots of practical activities whilst recapping our number and place value. (See photos below). The children have been working in various groups all week during Maths lessons, developing excellent team working skills.

For our Science topic, the children have not only been learning about how electricity is generated, but the benefits of renewable and non-renewable energy. Since then, the children have been engaged in lots of discussions about this, which has linked brilliantly to our writing in English.

It was great to have four of our students as School Council members; all got to introduce their new roles to the school on Tuesday afternoon. This week, we also loved watching the dance performance in our Collective Worship this week, which included Longship students. Well done girls!
