Grampound Road Village CE School

Spring Term Week 8

Longships Class have had a super week, focusing on their Plastic Free Schools project. They ahve begun to write  a letter to the local MP, Mrs Newton, which will be sent next week to address the situation and ask for her help in organising more recycling facilities within schools around the area. The class did an amazing assembly to let other children in the school know all about what they have been up to!

The class have finally reached their target of 2000 Dojo points, so will be deciding on what they would like as a reward. You will be notified as soon as it has been confirmed.

In Maths, we have begun to look at position and direction of shapes and objects. The class have really enjoyed pretending to be robots in class, acting out instructions for movement. During our English lessons, we have started a new unit called 'Imaginary Worlds', with a focus on the Iron Man story. The children have been working very hard to use descriptive language features such as personification.

The children absolutely loved Science Week, especially our Science Day, when they got to make slime. As we were so excited about different experiments, I have set homework this week to create salt crystals. See our Longships Google Classroom account for more information.
