Grampound Road Village CE School

Gribbin news 5th March 2018

It was lovely to talk to all the parents this week during parents evening. The children really benefit from your support with learning. It was good to hear that the children are enjoying school and even miss it on a Saturday!

This week we have been busy learning how to order numbers 1-20, 1 more and 1 less and adding numbers using a number line. In Literacy we have been writing postcards and diary entries about the zoo. The children are confident to write unfamiliar words using their phonic knowledge, which is great. We don't copy write in our class, so the children have to think carefully about the sounds they can hear.

In RE the children are learning about the incarnation. They made some pictures of the cross and were able to explain that Jesus died not the cross. We will be learning about the incarnation every week, so the children may ask questions at home or want to share what they have learnt.

Next week we will be continuing with the topic of food and colour. We will learn about healthy foods,   unhealthy food and that it is important to eat the 'green stuff!' We will sample some foods and make some food. This is always popular with the children. We will  encourage healthy eating and the importance of trying new foods.
