Gribbin news 22nd January 2018

In Literacy we have been learning to write simple sentences. We have been learning about finger spaces and sounding out each sound as we say the word. We have also been learning to read back our sentences to check they make sense. Some children have been applying this new skill and writing simple sentences on the large easel. What has impressed me the most is the determination to have a go and not give up. We like mistakes because they make us learn.
In RE we have been role playing the story of Jesus welcoming the little children. The children drew some pictures and took photos of the story.
In Maths we have been learning about doubles and using our fingers to double up to 5. Some children were also to write the corresponding  number sentences.
The construction area has proved popular this week with pairs working in there to design and build some really detailed buildings. The children love to take photos of their buildings and they can talk about the function and form.
Next week on Monday we will have guests in school to set up  reflection areas in the hall, the children will visit and learn all about forgiveness and how important it is to forgive and let go of those feelings that make us feel anxious and worried.
In topic we will be learning about 'people who help us care for the environment.'We will be looking at buildings, we will transform the role play into a museum and look at how we can help to look after our school and surrounding areas.
