Gribbin news 18th September 2017

This week the children have been continuing to learn the story, 'The Owl Babies.' They have now learnt all the actions and can re-tell most of the story. We have also been learning about how the owls felt when the mummy left and how good it was when she came back.
I am very pleased to inform you that the phonic lesson are going well and some of the children can already say the first few sounds and blend those sounds into words. The children can blend; sit, sad, mad, it, in, dad. This is an excellent start.
In maths we have been learning to continue a repeated pattern. We made colour patterns, shape patterns and smiley face patterns. We counted to 100 and I have explained the number pattern that occurs after 20,30,40 etc.
In topic this week we have be talking about our local area and drawing maps. Some children have a good eye for detail and can explain the purpose of different buildings around their homes.
Next week we will be learning about number and place value, writing invitations and learning how our bodies change as we grow. We will begin a height chart to see how much the children grow in their first year at school.
On Thursday 28th September at 2.30pm in the Gribbin class all parents are invited to meet with myself to discuss the children's learning journeys which will be electronic and interactive.
See you all next week.
