Grampound Road Village CE School

Gribbin news 15th January

We had a super week in the EYFS learning about 'People who help us in school.' The children had the opportunity to find out what the various adults roles are in school. They visited the office, Miss Gabriele, the teachers and Sam in the kitchen. Sam came in to talk to the children all about her job and how important it is to eat nutritionally healthy food. Sam brought in a huge selection of fruit and vegetables and fruit for the children to touch, smell and feel. After her talk the children were able to tell me which foods are healthy and which foods we should only eat a little bit of. We made ziz zag books using the photos the children took of the staff and we added simple sentences. The children also drew some observational life portraits of each other posing as a staff member. We discussed form and detail and the children were able to produce some great pictures showing good attention to detail.
Next week we will be learning about 'People who help us to stay healthy.'
Thank you for your support with the homework. I will continue to include a literacy and Maths piece each week. Please ensure your child has a school book bag with their homework book inside on Thursday and their reading record and reading book in daily. Please use the 'Just to let you know' book to share any news with us. Some parents use it to share family events or weekend news. The children absolutely love it when we read it out because they enjoy sharing their good news stories with the class so much.
See you on Monday
