Grampound Road Village CE School

23rd - 27th April 2018

This week we have been busy learning all about our topic 'Rocks'.
We have been exploring the properties of different rocks and using scientific vocabulary such as 'permeable', 'impermeable', 'dense' and 'durable' when sorting them based on their properties.
We have also been exploring the different layers of the Earth and have created our own mini-models of the different layers of the Earth.
In Maths this week, we have been revising our addition and subtraction, as well as multiplication. As part of this, we have been applying our knowledge to different contexts to show that we have mastered different methods. I have been really impressed by Tater Du's great attitude to learning and the support that they have for one another as we work together to solve different problems. Well done.
In Literacy this week, we have written our own ending to a narrative about a robot. We all came up with some great ideas and then watched the ending of the video clip to see if anyone was correct. I have enjoyed listening to the children share their own inventive ideas!
We also took part in a 'Trust' workshop on Monday where we explored our Christian Value for this half term. It was lovely to see the children engaging in different activities to demonstrate who they trust, how they trust them and why.
Well done for a great week everyone.
