We aim to inspire in pupils a curiosity and fascination about the world and its people that will remain with them for the rest of their lives. We aim to teach children to gain an age appropriate understanding of places and environments. Our Geography curriculum aims to inspire children to think about their own place in the world and to develop a sense of responsibility towards the environment and an understanding of the human impact on the natural world.
By developing specific geographical skills, children make sense of their own surroundings through learning about their own local area, rural area, coastal area and urban locations. Children will ask geographical questions and compare their locality with that of other regions in the United Kingdom and in the rest of the world. Through their growing knowledge and understanding of human and physical geography, children gain an appreciation of life in other cultures.
