RE Curriculum

What is RE?

RE helps us to explore big questions about life. We find out what people believe and what difference this makes to how they live. RE helps us to make sense of religion and belief. We can reflect on our own and other people’s ideas and ways of living.

As a Church of England school we aim to develop and uphold Christian values. We celebrate Christian festivals and work from the annual church calendar. It is our aim to show that Christianity in not a separate entity but a part of the whole of life. The curriculum aims to support and develop the spiritual, moral and cultural development of each child. It also aims to help children make sense of their feelings, beliefs, and to develop an awareness and respect for the beliefs of others. The children will be encouraged to understand religious concepts and symbolism and to appreciate a range of religious traditions.

A collective act of worship is held every day, as a whole school, department or individual class. Representatives from the local churches are regularly involved in our assembly programme and children occasionally lead the assembly.
N.B. A parent has the right to withdraw a pupil from attendance at religious worship or religious instruction.
