News - Au1 Wk4 - Writing

What a busy week we've had in Holywell class... again!
This week we've started our new class text. We're learning about recount writing and have begun to immerse ourselves in a tale of a father heading off on an expedition to Greenland.
We have been considering how adverbials can make our writing better and have used the stimulus 'the cat sat on the mat' to help us with this.
Here are our examples:
1) Skipp - At the break of an Autumnal day, beside a spitting fire, there lay an Egyptian cat, immersed in a distant dream. The flames devoured the surrounding coolness without mercy.
2) Hannah - In a cosy, Asian bungalow, a skinny Spinx squatted on a bright, vibrant quilt beside a roasting fire, flames licking the remains of a birch log.
3) Ewan - In the early hours of Monday morning, when the morose ginger cat began to wake from it's slumber, a gunmetal, Persian moggy was waking too.
4) Maddison - In the early morning light, the chubby kitten, with gunmetal fur, nestled on a wall in the park and cried her heart out as other cats licked their malign lips and laughed.
We hope you like them!
