Grampound Road Village CE School

Gribbin news 8th January 2018

This half term the Gribbins are learning about 'People who help us.' We have launched the topic with a dress up day and the children looked great dressed up as a person who helps and inspires them. All the children could explain what the person they dressed up as did for a job. They drew some lovely pictures and some wrote a sentence.
In phonics some children are now learning set two sounds and we have made a great start. Other children are enjoying working in a smaller group using the magnetic tiles to make up cvc words. The children are very focused and  I am so happy with their excellent attitudes to learning.
I have sent home two pieces of homework, one is spelling and the other is Maths. I hope you enjoy supporting your child with this. Please can you ensure homework books are sent back into school on Thursday.
Starting next week we will be giving certificates for reading, these are called karate reading certificates. The children move up karate belts the more times they read. It is really important that you sign the book each time your child reads. These certificates are only for younger children, the older children will have their own certificates from Accelerated Reader.

Please can all children have a school book bag that is brought in daily.

Happy weekend,

Miss Kennedy
